Aiden is a difficult character to like at first because he’s so closed off, but as we learn more about him and his past, it’s easy to sympathize with him. The romance between Aiden and Vanessa is a slow burn that takes a while to build up, but it’s worth the wait. Eventually, Vanessa agrees, but only if they become friends first before she becomes his wife, which he needs in order to help her with her business. However, Aiden realizes how much he needs her and tries to convince her to come back. Vanessa quits her job and leaves Aiden behind, hurt by his lack of recognition. Aiden is a top defensive end in football, and while Vanessa is the best PA he’s ever had, he doesn’t even notice her. The story begins with Vanessa working as Aiden’s personal assistant. She’s a strong and determined woman who has a heartbreaking past, and her decisions and thoughts feel genuine throughout the book. However, Vanessa’s character is so well-written that it’s easy to connect with her on a deep level. We see him change and grow as Vanessa does, but we don’t know what’s going on inside his head. The entire story is told from Vanessa’s point of view, which makes Aiden’s character even more mysterious. One of the reasons this book was so captivating is because of the excellent writing. The story of Vanessa and Aiden was perfect in every way, and I know this book will stay with me for a long time. Despite its length, I couldn’t put it down and finished it in just two days.
